Poland is full of natural values! Ranging from small insects, such as millions of mosquitos in the Bialowieza Primeval Forest, to more impressive animals such as black storks, the European bison and even bears in the Tatra mountains.

During in total 22 weeks in the last three years I stayed in Poland. Half of these weeks I aided to botanical research in the Bialowieza Primeval Forest for my B.Sc. studies. Besides that I took the opportunity to travel around the country, especially in the naturally wild northeast. People are relatively poor, but calm and very friendly there.

In the Northeast I have seen something of these 'untamed' areas
the Bialowieza Primeval Forest and surrounding woods
the Suwalki Landscape Park
the Augustow Forest
the Rospuda river-valley near Augustow
the Narew National Park near Bialystok

In the South of the country I visited
Karkonosze Mountains
Beskid Zywiecki Park Krajobrazowy
Tatra National Park

Christmas 2002  Podlaskie

Armed with my Canon EOS 500 camera I attempted to take home a varried collection of nature scenery in Poland. Of course, not everything can be photographed!! I think of the owls that were breeding in the villages. And I experienced that sounds from birds are often overwhelming, but can't be shot on film either!
