Beside Bialowieza forest and the Narew river the Northeast of Poland possesses a rich natural wealth existing today. In this relatively scarce inhabited area huge forests and vast rivervalleys have remained in a state that's unequalled in most parts of Western Europe. Among the fauna are elk, wolf, lynx and beaver, to name some. This natural part of the country is called the Green Lungs of Poland in official policy-terms. Some people call this wilderness even the Green Lungs of Europe...
